The Heatline Distributor acts as the centralized hub and storage for transferring heat through heatlines.
Every second, the Distributor will take any heat stored within itself and send it to machines connected to it via heatlines that require it. Heat is attempted to be distributed as fairly as possible, with nearer connected machines taking precedence over further away ones. Machines that have no need for more heat are completely disregarded by a Heatline Distributor when determining how much to send.
Taking the above into account, for the most effective setup you want the Heatline Distributor adjacent to External Heaters or a Thermobox that can provide heat, and then a continuous heatline from the distributor to other machines in the area.
Any machines connected beyond the maximum heatline distance (by default 36 blocks) will be ignored.
