1. Technical Updates

UK team

  • Heard back from DAC and the accessibility center. About 25 updates to make it more accessible. Small changes but also big changes to the table. Developer is working on it now. Will take one to two months to get it completed User research started and is developing user profiles
  • Working on updating the FAQ, especially around SDMX
  • Lucy found that Kazakhstan is marking the proxy and geographical features. Lucy is looking into it.
  • Updating indicator fields because found a few typos in them
  • Thinking of doing a full audit of the UK translations on SDG translations with priority to the title fields
  • Added an SDMX feature to the CSV. If someone downloads the CSV then they will see the fields in the output.
  • Updated so other countries don’t have to customize the DSD.
    • Brock is this customizing a second or just one?
    • Lucy - this would be one per country

US team

  • Phil couldn’t join but talked with the team this morning. Working on addressing SDMX and multilingual issues
  • Phil met with UNSD in early March. Kali asked for translators to review Arabic, Russian, and Chinese. Because of contractual issues with the translators, they won’t be able to help. Kali instead asked Jen Park to see if UNECE could help. Seems like this could be a possibility. Could use the diplomatic network to do this.
  • Comprehensive 2020 review could produce many changes to the indicators, in which case we would need to update the indicators. Tier changes wouldn’t be a problem but review may produce more changes.
  • Kicking off the US update. In the combined platform the targets are gone. How is the UK handling that?
    • The targets aren’t being displayed on the goals page and CHris is looking at different formats of the goal page to include them.
    • Kali - for the comprehensive review, they are going to review how close they got to the target.
    • Brock - Armenia has a good model to review this.

CODE team

  • Working on SDG build for converting data formats. Focus is on SDMX, schema, and csvw. Will probably be lots of preparation.
  • Working on API specifications and guidelines which we may need. First priority is SDMX, then CSVW, will then go from there.
  • Armenia would like to release their platform to the data providers to start getting ready. They wanted a video of how to edit data and metadata.
    • Brock used Google translate for Russian and Armenian for the subtitles
    • Russian could be helpful for many countries so this could be a helpful update
  • Blog post
    • Friendly reminder for people to review the blog post.
    • UK uses an approach where they highlight three key points for their blogs. Ann will work on this and send feedback through email.
  • Collaborative inbox
    • Could be helpful to go ahead with it before people move forward. Would be nice to have a standard email for people to see.
    • Caleb will follow up with Kali about the instructions but we can go ahead and start using it. Brock will update the documentation with the new email address.

Country/subnational interest in cloning the NRP

  • Armenia had great feedback for Open SDG
  • Justus from Germany is keeping up to date on SDG and it may be good to invite them to the call.
  • Kazakhstan platform is in progress. Working on importing the data
    • Jen Park is consulting with the WB to assist Kazakhstan with their statistics. Just an FYI from Kali.
  • Ann - is there a case study from Kazakhstan? Not yet, but Brock will bring it up.
  • Katarina speaking with the city of LA next Friday and whether they would be interested in writing a case study of subnational implementation. A few areas for the UK are interested so it may be good to show another example.
  • Kyrgyzstan platform is up and running. It is now in Russian but with an English option.
  • Rwanda is up and running with the SDG and is also using the non-applicable status
  • Ghana is prepared for the open SDG switch but it is on hold until they hear conversation.
  • Done some work with Namibia on setting up the maps and fields. The platform is up and running.

2. Upcoming events/conferences

  • Ann will be at UNECA
  • Ann invited to OECD event to talk about .stat suite.
  • Will send around the notes from the .stat meeting

3. Next steps

  • UK has a Kyrgyzstan trip coming up
    • Translator for the UK will be coming along
  • UK working on accessibility and CSVW feature
