IIIF Types ↔ Omeka Types

Dickson Law edited this page Mar 14, 2018 · 2 revisions

IIIF Toolkit allows IIIF content to be imported into Omeka for presentation and editing while non-IIIF Omeka content can also be viewed and exported to IIIF compliant viewers (ex. Mirador) and associated tools (ex. annotations).

Mapping follows the conventions below:

IIIF Omeka
Collection Collection (with "IIIF Type" metadata set to "Collection")
Manifest Collection (with "IIIF Type" metadata set to "Manifest" or left at default)
Canvas Item (with "IIIF Type" metadata left at default)
Annotation Item (with item type set to "Annotation")
Image File

Metadata Editing

You can edit Dublin Core elements as usual in Omeka, which are presented as metadata entries in IIIF. The following metadata elements translate to specific IIIF Presentation API values:

Dublin Core IIIF Presentation API
Title label
Description description
Publisher attribution
Rights license

All others are mapped as IIIF Presentation API metadata values with names equal to their display label.
