Small form factor 10GE perfSONAR testpoint

This platform is useable for a 10GE (and possibly higher) perfSONAR testpoint. It's small form factor and affordability lends itself to service as a temporary mobile troubleshooting platform, or it can be mounted in a two post rack with an optional rack-mount kit.

We are using the SuperMicro E300-8D. With the options we chose the price is less than $1000 USD including the rack mount kit, optics not included. We ordered a number of them from MITXPC with the following options: 8GB RAM, 500GB NVME drive, and the rackmount kit.

It comes natively with a 1GE dedicated backplane (IPMI), 6 x 1GE copper ports, and 2 x 10GE SFP+ ports.

Optional expansion cards are offered, with the ability to support more 10GE SFP+ ports, 10GE RJ45 ports, and 25GbE ethernet ports.

The E300-8D runs Centos 7 and the latest version of perfSONAR.
