Description of the service

Monitoring and alerting notifications for public services.

We have several monitors in place from Pingdom. These are generally HTTP-based monitors that look for a specific string. We also monitor our two DNS servers to ensure the response for a lookup of openmrs.org is correct.

Adding or Removing Alert Notifications

First, select the alert for which you wish to change notifications. Click the grey pencil icon (middle of the three) to the right of the line for that notification.

In the page that appears, move to the “Notification” section. Tick the box for the people who should receive notifications. This list is populated from the “Contacts” section of the Pingdom control panel. Generally, all 4 notification types should remain checked. To enable or disable specific types of notifications for each user, edit their contact information instead.

Note: “New JIRA Incident” should usually remain checked. When this is checked along with the “Email” box, JIRA will receive e-mail notifications from Pingdom and create tickets.

Finally, don’t forget to click the “Update Check” button at the bottom of the page!
