We want to change image storage formats from folders of images to a single file that is quick to copy from NAS and also directly readable in mustard and other python scripts.

Name comments formats usable (8UC1, 32FC3?) compression accessability?
images
h264/video codec viewable easily
HDF5 all formats but no compression?
.tar most portable, but is there a more used option
rosbag some complications, but maybe future proof
