This page contains info on how to re-use the Kia Niro Hybrid batteries (Also applies to Hyundai Kona Hybrid)

Specifications

There are two variants of the hybrid battery, HEV and PHEV. Currently only HEV batteries have been tested, but PHEV should also work great!

  • 2kWh, HEV, 56s, 168-235VDC operating, (Approx size Xcm w x Ycm l x Zcm) ~xxkg
  • 9kWh, PHEV, ??s, XXXv nominal, (Approx size Xcm w x Ycm l x Zcm) ~xxkg
    • The PHEV battery is split into two separate batteries. One looks exactly like the HEV, the other part is flat black. See the images down below

Part numbers for batteries

Here is a list of Kia / Hyundai stickers. The Number G is used for Kia Niro HEV. Checkboxes are added to batteries confirmed working by users.

  • 37501 G5000 is Kia Niro HEV 2kWh ✅
  • 37501 G2000 is Kia Niro PHEV ½ x 9kWh (Half of the 9kWh battery!)
  • 37504 G5620 is Kia Niro PHEV ½ x 9kWh (Half of the 9kWh battery!)
  • 37503 A8BS0 is Kia Optima ?kWh
  • X X is Hyundai Kona HEV 2kWh

The battery can be interfaced via the 32-pin BMS connector, mentioned in the wiring diagram as BF11
