CCAM

The Common Classification of Medical Acts (Classification Commune des Actes Médicaux - CCAM) is issued by the French Health Insurance (Assurance Maladie). It is used to code medical procedures and measures, primarily for claims management.

Sources

The vocabulary is retrieved from the Health Insurance download page in DBF format and converted to OMOP vocabulary format, respecting the hierarchy represented in it and keeping procedure groups associated with each code.

Transformation

The procedures for transforming Concepts from the source to the OMOP Standard Vocabularies can be found on the OHDSI GitHub.

Concept Names

All Concept names are auto-translated using the Full Source Name in the long description field (nom_long) whereas the French Name is stored as a Synonym with the respective language code.

Concept Code

Concept codes are taken from the "Code de l'Acte CCAM".

Standard Concepts

At this time all concepts are Non-Standard. Relationships to Standard Concepts have not yet been implemented and are waiting for community input.

Domains

All concepts are of the procedure domain.

Concept Relationships

Hierarchy

CCAM Concepts are non-Standard Concepts and therefore do not participate in the hierarchy of the CONCEPT_ANCESTOR table. The Hierarchy within CCAM has been preserved and is reflected as "Subsumes" / "Is a" relationships.

Instructions for ETL

As currently the relationships from CCAM codes to standard concepts e.g. in SNOMED are not yet represented, those relationships have to be built in a project specific way.
