Community Contribution

We added guidelines for drug vocabulary development and/or mapping here. It can be used to incorporate new drug vocabularies into the OHDSI Vocabularies or mapping them to standard concepts locally in a systematic fashion.

Vocabulary WG

Check out our recent Vocabulary WG call with Polina Talapova talking about efforts on aligning SNOMED CT and LOINC in Measurement domain. Slides and recording can be assessed in Teams Vocabulary channel in CDM WG. Workgroup can be joined here.

Community Contribution

We collected several community contributions throughout June: adding non-standard vocabularies, modifying existing mappings and adding new concepts to the existing vocabulary. You can check the contributions in the GitHub issues using the corresponding tag.

Communication

You might have received quite some communication from us in June! This includes a recent Community Call, Vocab WG call and email updates where we discussed landscape assessment, roadmap and community contribution. If you have missed those and would like to be updated, please sign up for CDM WG -> Vocabulary Subgroup in Teams so that you stay up-to-date!

Community Contribution

We are rolling out Community Contribution Part I as per the Roadmap. Please submit your vocabularies, mappings and improvements! More details can be found on the corresponding page. We are collecting submissions throughout June to be included in August release so please submit a GitHub issue or come to a Vocabulary WG call to ask questions.

Landscape assessment report

The final version of the landscape report has been officially published! We had 183 responses from the OHDSI members across the globe and gathered the information about the Vocabularies use across 60 US and international data sources.

Roadmap

You said and we listened! We published a roadmap for 2023-Q2 2024, which has the maintenance activities for the most commonly used vocabularies as well as the improvement activities for issues of stability and accurateness of the vocabularies in condition domain (SNOMED, ICD family, MedDRA). It also contains the efforts to enable community contribution and improve quality assurance and control. More information here as well as on the Vocabulary WG meeting slides.

Committee

As a part of process improvement initiative, we established a Vocabulary Oversight Committee that helps the team in prioritization of the maintenance and improvement tasks. Members represent OHDSI and Columbia Coordinating Center: George Hripcsak, Patrick Ryan, Peter Rijnbeek, Rae Woong Park, Mui Van Zandt and Christian Reich. They meet with the Vocabulary Team monthly and their decisions are communicated publicly here. One of the main activities of the Committee is building and overseeing the Roadmap (please see above).

Landscape assessment report

As a part of the improvement effort, we asked the OHDSI community for the feedback about where the OHDSI Vocabularies are and where they should go. The draft version of the landscape assessment report is now live! Check it out here (you need to be an OHDSI tenant).
