Minutes

iCampHRM debrief

  • Gave demo of Flysystem work using Dropbox. Demod requesting the preservation master for an image, which was pulled in from Dropbox via Flysystem.
  • First time CLAW was used in the Admin track. Big take away is that we need documentation. Melissa says they will be digging in even deeper in the next iCamp. Danny says we should start thinking about backup and migration strategies using Flysystem.
  • Melissa: "UPEI's herbarium CLAW was pretty awesome too." 👍

PR to fix installer is up

Flysystem install is available

Kevin Bowrin's review of CLAW vs Hyrax

  • An excellent review. Thanks Kevin!
  • Some discussion of his findings in the "What does the object look like in Fedora?" section.
    • CLAW doesn't model content such that a top-down tree like Hyrax provides is natively available. In CLAW, media point up to the parent object.
    • Mark suggested providing a tab at the CLAW node level that built this view so that admins can get the same "top-down" view. Danny says this should be implementable as a View because all we'd need to do is create two relationships.

Flysystem demo time?

  • Super fly (ha). When using Flysystem, Drupal mediates all access to resources, like it does using its native private filesystem. Some discussion around testing how much overhead this imposes, e.g. during scalability testing.
  • Seth asked about how we differentiate between regular Drupal file uploads and Fedora assets.
    • Danny says that we need to address this since currently you need to define a default filesystem type and that all uploads use that filesystem unless it is changed at site level. One approach would be to let the user decide where to store the file via a form alter on the file upload form.
