Subutai Battle Party HowTo

You're an ambassador of Kwan, oops wrong movie, I mean of the Khan, and you're trying to get friends to join you in the horde. You want to earn some Goodwill and share resources with new friends. What do you do? Throw a battle party online and walk them through the initiation.

Setup a time to get online together with your friends

  • Be ready with one or more machines (with desktop to make it easier) with minimum of
    • 4GB RAM,
    • 2 CPU Cores, and
    • at least 200GB of free space
  • Check if your OS is supported: see Getting Started

I like doing a Google Hangout session where I can record it and post online to share with friends. You can use what you like but make sure you can share your desktop.

Download and Install Subutai

First register your account on the Hub, you want to use it with the launcher to track your peers and any problems cradle to grave and installation is a big part of that. The launcher will ask you if you want to log in with your hub account to track the installation process.

The installation is really easy. All you have to do is install the Launcher package on Windows, Linux, or Mac. Then you fire up the launcher wizard and give it the machine parameters you want for the Resource Host and peer combo you're going to create. Just using the defaults is good enough.

The main thing is the post-install.

Post Installation

Here we're going to go through the following steps:

  1. Create a PGP Identity in the E2E Chrome Extension
  2. Log into our peer's console and associate our key with the admin account
  3. Associate the PGP key with your Hub account in your profile
  4. Register your peer onto the Hub from the peer's console

Simple Steps

  1. Create a local peer environment
  2. Upload ssh keys and access
  3. Expose your application with a port mapping
  4. Bind it to a domain name

Sharing with Just Friends

  1. Going private
  2. Sharing with friends
  3. Setting up billing
  4. Market values
