Welcome to the mwp wiki

The mwp manual contains a more readable version of much of the information here and more.

Summary

mwp is designed for contemporary Linux (e.g. Arch, Debian, Fedora, Ubuntu) and FreeBSD. Installation Guide.

mwp can also be used on MS Windows. To run mwp on Windows, you have the following options:

  • For Windows 11, you can install and run mwp in WSL-g. This is a reasonable Windows option, as it provides almost the same user-experience as for Linux or FreeBSD.
  • For Windows 10 users, it is also possible to install and run mwp with WSL
  • You can also build the legacy branch using Cygwin, see the mwp on cygwin instructions. A lot of work, but better than the other Windows options.
  • Within a virtual machine (Linux / FreeBSD guest OS), follow the Linux install guide.

For MacOS:

  • Works well in Parallels with Linux VM.
  • It may be possible to run master (Gtk4) natively with much "home brew" work.
