#Introduction
The SlashRoots Foundation ("SlashRoots") is a civic tech non-profit that leverages technology to create solutions to social problems endemic to the Caribbean region. We work with governments, development organizations and civil society to improve public service program design and delivery, with a focus on open innovation and user-centred design.
SlashRoots also works to develop the regional technology ecosystem, facilitating the emergence of a technology industry that employs best practices, engages in global discourse, and is responsive to the Caribbean environment of which it is a part.
This document has several purposes: to help guide software development advisors, team management, team members, and technical departments in developing and sustaining productive and successful software and services; to document functions; and to serve as a reference for questions and problems as they arise in the day-to-day operations of the SlashRoots Development Team.
At SlashRoots the user is at the core of our problem solving and software development approach. We work with government and development organizations to develop software in a user-centred, agile, open and data-driven way.
We use the prototyping process to effectively communicate with the individuals we are building the software for. This is supported by a deep commitment to developing with an agile process, generate maintainable source code and produce software that is implemented to specification.
