Our folder structure for events in Cascade is as follows: calendar --events ---YYYY ----MM -----images ---pending ----images --lib ---calendar.css ---university_calendar.php --index --eventdetails --eventrequest --rss.php The current year (and future years) has an index block assigned to it, which will build the event XML. XML files from previous years are archived and anything older than a year is removed completely from Cascade, including images. The "pending" folder is where submissions to the event request form are created. The process for the form uses web services to "build" an event and create a pending event and add it to the pending folder. The user you specify in the WECalendarEvent.php class must have write access to the pending folder (and the images folder if you choose to use images). Once a pending event is added, someone from our Marketing departments moves the event into the appropriate year/month folder. INCLUDED CLASS/SCRIPT FILES (calendar/lib): cascadeWebEvent.php Abstract class that creates the SOAP request to Cascade's webservices and provides wrapper functions to create, read, edit assets within Cascade. WECalendarEvent.php Webevent class that extends the abstract class above and "builds" the pending event for creation in Cascade. The contents of the page come from the user's submission to the event request form. mucalendar.php Abstract class that defines the various methods and variables and provides common functions relating to our various calendars. university_calendar.php Calendar class that extends the abstract class above. This class reads the appropriate events XML file and will building an array of upcoming and ongoing events based on the following criteria: date (DD-MM-YYYY), category, query, mode (i.e. day, week, month). rss.php Utilizes the calendar class and user input to create an RSS feed of upcoming events. INCLUDED CASCADE FILES (cascade_assets): events_xml_xslformat.xsl The XSL Format that generates an XML dump of the current and upcoming year's events using an index block that is assigned at the events folder level. events_truncatedxml_xslformat.xsl The XSL Format that generates an abridged XML dump of the latest 10 upcoming events using an index block that is assigned at the events folder level. events_xml_template.xml The template for the year's XML file. The DEFAULT region is assigned the above XSL. calendar_event_datadefinition.xml The data definition for each individual event. Each event also has a custom metadata set that has the following inline fields: Title (required) Start Date (start-date) (mm/dd/yyyy | required) End Date (end-date) (mm/dd/yyyy) Start Time (start-time) (hh:mm AM/PM) End Time (end-time) (hh:mm AM/PM)
