Welcome to the pylib history wiki!

Born

Pylib was born in Aug 24, 2017 by Danil Yarantsev (Yardanico).

With the effort of several core developers, it was growing, till about 2022,

when it had been condsidered as some mature and its originator, Yardanico, announed it as not maintained.

On Jun 7, 2024, Nim dev team found the link to Yardanico's pylib became 404 (Nim#23691). With a little deeper inspection, it's because, unfortunately, the github account of Yardanico, has been unregistered, somehow.

Reborn

Fortunately, there has been forks, and successors.

Born as a fork from Yardanico's pylib, this repo has grown quite a lot.

Take repo size as an example, before forked, it was less than half a hundred Kb, but after forked, and active development of the successor, litlighilit, its size has exceeded 300Kb before June in 2024.

Its features booms, it begins to own some Python-like stdlibs, its pysugar gets more...

The Newer package URL

As mentioned above, since the original url became 404, the pylib was once planned to be removed from official package list (mentained at nim-lang/packages repo.

However, such a absence would trigger sentimentality. Therefore, the url in official package list was updated instead of removed in this commit, meaning the URL of pylib being updated since Jun 15, 2024, with its version of 0.9.0 at that time, whereas its origin version was 0.4 .
