Expected behaviour

On navigating to the installed volume control applet by keyboard, being able to bring up the volume slider by striking "return" as is true of the status icon(after mate-desktop/mate-panel@a2cdef9 in mate-panel)

Actual behaviour

No response to return key from the keyboard-focussed mate-volume-control panel applet, menu key works fine to raise the menu as expected. Mate-panel itself should now support this with no problems, as works with panel launchers, works with the main menu, works with show-desktop, and clock EDIT: (calendar both raised and lowered by ).

Steps to reproduce the behaviour

Install the panel applet into mate-panel, preferably leave the volume control status icon in the panel too for side by side test. Navigate to it by keyboard, strike the

key to raise the menu, the to get out of the menu and return focus to the applet. Now strike and nothing happens. Repeat on the status icon and brings up the applet menu and raises the slider and focusses it

Indeed the return key does nothing.
Menu key for context-menu works.

I've already got a whole day of work in trying to fix this with no results. The slider has to be raised from one context but the focus is on what can only be called a grandparent of it. Very hard to work with for this purpose
