Welcome to the project-temperature-detection wiki! This product is designed to be a low cost, automatic fever detector for stores, schools, and workplaces.

The content in this wiki is an open source design package created by a group within the Helpful Engineering non-profit organization. The Slack channel #project-temperature-detection within Helpful Engineering is the primary source of communication for this team. Our goal is that this serves as a starting point for other designers to build, modify, and improve, and ultimately deploy many devices to fight Covid-19.

Disclaimers:

This product has been built and tested, but may have design bugs.

The efficacy of a temperature sensing device depends on the environment in which it is used. The best practice is to use these devices in a climate controlled room, and to allow people to equilibrate to room temperature for a short time before measuring. While individual body temperatures vary, it is still possible to detect a person with a fever if appropriate measures are taken with calibration and use. The most robust detection is to use multiple screening methods together.
