Sqs

This is very simple, pure thread-based implementation of message processor without hard dependencies (only aws, thread, thread_safe gems are used).

Installation

Add this line to your application's Gemfile:

gem 'sqs', github: 'fatum/sqs'

And then execute:

$ bundle

Usage

worker = Sqs::Worker.new(
  queue: "queue",
  worker_size: 1,
  poller_size: 1
)

worker.execute do |message|
  p message.body

  sleep 1
end

Features

  • Low memory footprint
  • Pure thread-based implementation without sleep (mutex with cond var) and without celluloid
  • Cross platform
  • Pool with auto shrinking idle threads
  • Multiple pollers
  • Trap signals (can be running by upstart)

Development

After checking out the repo, run bin/setup to install dependencies. Then, run bin/console for an interactive prompt that will allow you to experiment.

To install this gem onto your local machine, run bundle exec rake install. To release a new version, update the version number in version.rb, and then run bundle exec rake release to create a git tag for the version, push git commits and tags, and push the .gem file to rubygems.org.
