2. Network connection

Davide De Tommaso edited this page Jun 21, 2019 · 1 revision

The Tobii Pro Glasses 2 can be connected via WiFi or Ethernet to the host PC. Please follow the instructions present in the official manual of the product for more details.

WiFi connection

The first step is to connect to the wireless network of the eye-tracker. Using WiFi, the host PC will get an IPv4 address from the DHCP server running in the Tobii Glasses recording unit. By default the IP address of the eye-tracker is 192.168.71.50, so the host PC will get an address of the same class.

You can check whether the eye-tracker is reachable using the ping command:

ping 192.168.71.50

Ethernet connection

By default, using ethernet connection, the host PC will get an IPv6 address. The connection has to be configured as link-local.

You can check whether the eye-tracker replies using ping:

ping6 ff02::1%eth0

replacing 'eth0' with the interface name you are actually using.

It is also possible to use ethernet connection with an IPv4 address. In this case be sure that a DHCP IPv4 server is running in the host PC when you connect psychically the eye-tracker.
