D3 JS Potential Examples
Interesting Ideas:
- Show the progress (bar graph race chart) of boston neighborhoods or similar city neighborhoods over time regarding median income/affordable housing (show the history of mattapan)
https://observablehq.com/@d3/bar-chart-race
The federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) defines an "affordable dwelling" as one that a household can obtain for 30 percent or less of its income. ... So, by this definition, a dwelling is considered "affordable" for low-income families if it costs less than 24 percent of the area median income. --https://www.vox.com/2014/4/10/18076868/affordable-housing-explained#:~:text=The%20federal%20Department%20of%20Housing,or%20less%20of%20its%20income.&text=So%2C%20by%20this%20definition%2C%20a,of%20the%20area%20median%20income.
- Show the construction of new housing (or total housing) that is 30%,35%,40% above the AMI for the neighborhood over time. X-axis showing years for data available, and each color showing the number of total units, weighted by population. This would help compare and may show if mattapan's state is becoming more acute or not (we think it is.)

What other indicators would be useful to show?
- Density of food options within .25 miles as a heatmap?
- Number of jobs within .25 miles as a heatmap (access to transportation as a factor in livability)
- Number of existing home sales (potentially an indicator of people leaving?)
