Welcome to the official GitHub organization for the CHIANTI atomic database project. Here you will find several different software interfaces to the CHIANTI database in both IDL and Python.
The CHIANTI package is currently distributed in two ways:
- within SolarSoft, an analysis environment for the solar physics community;
- as a stand-alone package downloadable here.

There are several different software interfaces to the CHIANTI database in both IDL and Python. These are listed below:
- CHIANTI-IDL-The official IDL interface to the CHIANTI atomic database. See this page for additional instructions on how to install the IDL tools. Authored mostly by G. Del Zanna and P.R. Young, with some contributions from R.P. Dufresne for version 11
- CHIANTI-VIP-A set of additional IDL and Python programs, developed and maintained by G. Del Zanna
- ChiantiPy- A set of Python CHIANTI programs developed and maintained by K. Dere
- fiasco-An alternative Python interface to CHIANTI maintained by W.T. Barnes
