### Execution timeout properties

BuildBuddy supports some execution properties that affect action execution
timeouts. Timeouts are specified as durations like `1s`, `15m`, or `1h`.

- `default-timeout`: The execution timeout used if a timeout
is not otherwise specified. This is useful for specifying timeouts on
remotely executed build actions, while Bazel's `--test_timeout` flag
can be used to specify timeouts for test actions (both locally and
remotely). Note: Bazel's `--remote_timeout` flag does _not_ affect
remote action timeouts.
- `termination-grace-period`: The time to wait between sending a graceful
termination signal to the action and forcefully shutting down the
action. This is similar to Bazel's `--local_termination_grace_seconds`,
which does not apply to remotely executed actions.

### Remote persistent worker properties

Similar to the local execution environment, the remote execution environment may also retain a long-running process acting as a [persistent worker](https://bazel.build/remote/persistent) to help reduce the total cost of cold-starts for build actions with high startup cost.
