hi, it's Álvaro

/'al βa ro/

tl;dr

I'm a Senior Full-stack Developer based in Valencia (Spain), spending most of the time on the dotnet and Azure ecosystem, with some sprinkles of VueJs.

After some years focused on work, I realised I'm not experimented as much as I'd like to with new technologies, programming languages or personal projects. So, this is my comeback to open-source, to find the time and allow myself to some creativity and exploration.

  • What I know 👉 C#, dotnet, Minimal APIs, Azure, Python, Javascript, Typescript, REST, gRPC, Source Generators, and who knows what more.
  • What I'm exploring 👉 Docker/Containers, 🦀 Rust!, Wasm, Distributed Systems, Linux systems

I do have other interests like woodworking 🪚, walking with and trainig my two big dogs or excercising, but here we'll only talk code 🤓

$ whoami

I'm a self-taught developer with a background in architecture and engineering that while working on an architectural studio fell in ❤️ with coding and automation trying to make my work more effective, less repetitive and in a way more exciting.

I started playing with visual programming tools such as Dynamo and some Grasshopper in my spare time, quickly having a taste of Python 🐍 to fill the gaps in visual programming to then transition to C#. The architectural software ecosystem is primarily using NET Framework (although recent efforts are being made to modernize to .NET), so these were the right tools.

During the next few years I grew from "wft is an interface?" to planning system architectures involving distributed services, designing coherent API scpecifications or developing orchestrated, fault-tolerant infrastructure interacting with thrird party services.
