  • Switch to using Ruff, replacing flake8 and isort
  • Switch to using poethepoet over makefiles to allow pip setup and better Windows support
  • Move all config into pyproject.toml, removes setup.py & setup.cfg
  • Upgrade CI to test on all platforms
  • Use trusted publishing for pypi

The code changes are to satisfy the new linting rules.
