#Find out version number
For bug reports it's important for the developers to know which version of K-9 Mail you're using. This is especially true if you attach debug logs, since these tell us in which line of the source code the error occured. And because we're continually working on improving K-9 Mail these line numbers change frequently.
Follow the instructions below to find out the exact version number of the K-9 Mail you're running.
There are at least two ways to find out the K-9 Mail version number. You can check the about box of the application or you can use the application management tool of Android.
- Start K-9 Mail
- Go to the accounts screen
- Press the menu button and hit "About"
- The K-9 Mail version is shown in the second line
As of version 3.112 this method reveals the build number, not the K-9 Mail version number. It's a 5-digit number, e.g. 10013, that's unrelated to the version number.
- Go to "Settings" in Android
- Choose "Applications", then "Manage applications"
- Look for K-9 Mail and press that list item
- The version is shown as 4-digit number below the application name. If you see e.g. 2403 this means you're running K-9 Mail version 2.403.
Note: If you built your own version of K-9 Mail from the Repository please include the revision number in your bug report.
