After this place your copy of your `wallet.dat` in some kind of secure storage. Potential places to store it are: on external hard drives or USB drives stored in secure locations, online in an encrypted file storage service. Make sure you store it in multiple places in order to ensure you have redundancy incase something goes wrong with one of your back ups.

Do not just make a copy of the `wallet.dat` on the same computer that you are using your wallet on. The reason for a back up is to prepare you for an event in which your computer is unable to be accesed, whether it be via theft, malfunction or something other incident.

Your wallet is now unlocked for staking.

Alternatively, there is a small lock icon next to the word 'STAKING' in the Home screen of the wallet. Click this lock and you will get the password prompt mentioned above.

See the image below for reference.
The image below shows the wallet is unlocked for staking.

It may take several seconds for your wallet to actually begin staking, and the amount of time it will take for your wallet to find a successful stake will depend on how many coins you are staking and other factors.

Your coins will not be able to stake if they are 'immature'. For more information on this and things related to staking see [this article](https://medium.com/@bocyaj2012/nav-coin-proof-of-stake-informational-guide-71c9c3417212)

### Pre-built Binaries

If you would like to install the client using pre-built binaries for your system, please visit [NavCoin.org](https://navcoin.org/en/wallets/#download-core)

### Building your own client For Linux

Install essential packages before building from source

```
sudo apt-get -y install build-essential libtool autotools-dev automake pkg-config git curl libattr1-dev cmake
```

Clone the repo

```
git clone https://github.com/navcoin/navcoin-core.git
```

Change directory to the repo

```
cd navcoin-core
```

Build the depends and the source code

```
cd ./depends && make -j4 && cd .. && ./autogen.sh && ./configure --prefix=`pwd`/depends/`uname -m`-pc-linux-gnu && make -j4 &
```

You can increase the nodes count to compile the code faster by changing `-j4` to higher counts that your CPU is capable of like `-j12`.

Once the build finishes, you can launch the daemon with `./src/navcoind` or the Qt wallet with `./src/qt/navcoin-qt`
