This commit adds a template for creating Adafruit Feather boards.

The specification can be found here: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-feather/feather-specification

The repository has been reorganized, @arturo182, could you please move your template to the projects folder?

Thanks!

The right pair of holes appear to be incorrectly positioned. They should be 0.7 inches apart, the same as the left pair of holes.

I based the template on the HUZZAH32 Feather which seems to have a slightly different hole spacing.
After digging a bit more there are quite a few Feathers with this spacing. The spec is not very strict.

I'll fix the holes when I move the files to the new folder.

Hi @arturo182, any update on this?

I am picking up KiCAD for a project that will be based on a feather and googling around to find a footprint lead me here! Is there anyway to use this as it currently stands or are we waiting on changes to the hole spacing?

@cmsimike as mentioned above, Adafruit actually uses two different standards for the hole spacing. So the template is not "wrong" as it is now.

If you're designing a Feather (so you need the Micro USB connector and the JST-PH connector), then I'd recommend going ahead and using this template. If you're designing a Feather Wing, then you might want to take a look at my FeatherWing template.

Either way, just copy the template into your user template directory (the location depends on your operating system), and you should be able to use it from KiCad.

@ppelleti thank you very much!!

@arturo182 does this template use the same JST battery connector as the Adafruit Feather boards? It doesn't look like the same footprint to me.

Here's the JST 3D model on the footprint in this KiCad template (it doesn't align):
