============ Elicit 1.9 ============ Elicit is a designers tool that allows one to magnify sections of the screen and select colors from any application. Dependencies ------------ Elicit is written using the Enlightenment Foundation Libraries, which are available from www.enlightenment.org The following libraries are required: eina eet evas ecore embryo edje Installation ------------ ./configure make sudo make install (For code checked out of git, run ./bootstrap first) Usage ----- When elicit begins, there are two empty frames. .---------------. .-+---------------+ | | +---------+ | | | | | | | | | | <---- Shot | | | | | | | +---------+ | | | +-+ | Panel --> | | +-+ <-Swatch | "-+---------------+ "---------------" The large frame is known as the "shot". Left click on it and drag to magnify the section of the screen underneath the mouse cursor. By default, a dashed border is drawn to show which section of the screen is being magnified. After magnifying a section of the screen, click and drag in the shot area with the RIGHT mouse button. This will select a region of the magnified shot, and display its width, height and diagonal length in the upper right corner. Right click without dragging to remove the selection. Scroll the mouse wheel over the shot to zoom in and out. Subsequent shots will use the current zoom level. (Note: zooming out beyond the level at which a shot was taken will cause the image data to be tiled to fill the shot area) The small frame in the bottom left is known as the "swatch". Left click on it and drag to select the color underneath the mouse cursor. Now, click on the left border of the window. A panel will slide out that contains four tabs. The first tab shows information about the currently selected color. At the top are three color sliders showing the Red, Green and Blue values. Next are three sliders for Hue, Saturation and Value. Click and drag on one of the sliders to change its value. For finer control, scroll the mouse wheel over the slider. Next is the hex representation of the color. Finally, three related colors are shown (the two triads and the complement). Click on one of them to select that color. The second tab shows the current palette. Add the current color to it by clicking on the "+" button. Clicking on an existing color in the palette will select it. To remove a color, select it and click the "-" button. (Alternatively, right click on the color in the palette). The palette is stored in ~/.e/apps/elicit/elicit.gpl in the same format as used by the gimp. The third tab is currently empty, but will contain a list of saved shots. The fourth tab contains configuration options. It is currently under construction, but allows you to toggle the grid in the shot and the box that is drawn while magnifying. Finally, click on the "X" to quit.
