Why are we doing this?

The following is a short list of perceived issues that we are trying to mitigate.

How can we succeed where others have failed?

Unfortunately there are no guarantees here. However, the growing popularity of Mastodon is very encouraging, and is something that we hope to leverage at least at the beginning. Once we've grown to a sufficient size, it is our hope that both projects will be able to have a shared user base that will continue to expand.

What we need

Short version:
At the risk of sounding like Steve Ballmer.... developers! But that seems to be a common issue with almost every open-source project.

Long Version:
Right now we could really use some folks interested in Rust (new, learning, experienced are all welcome), and someone to help with the front-end. Banjo has "volunteered" for the front-end work (on top of most everything else ;)), but it would still be nice to have some help there as well.
