Some long standing issue that no one seemed to care about, as to be expected. Although, the revival of hairpins in 4.4ish has this fixed. Not sure when it was implemented.
MuseScore 3.6.2 didn't select the actual segment, so the inspector was in an invalid state, nor did it allow deleting/placing via 'x'
