(Feel free to close this if it's unnecessary noise.)
At some point in recent history, I noticed that I wasn't seeing any notifications on the top right of my screen when using my MacBook in closed-lid mode. They were there if I clicked Notification Center in the menu bar, but I kept missing calendar appointments because I didn't get the notifications when they happened.
I started suspecting BetterDummy might be involved when I'd unplug my laptop and open it up; all the notifications I'd expected to get would be stacked up on the right side of the tiny laptop screen, covering whatever I was trying to do.
Turns out it's the fault of some recent macOS system update. In the "Notifications & Focus" System Preferences pane, there's a section at the bottom labeled Allow notifications, with an option called "When mirroring or sharing the display." This was unchecked for me. Since BetterDummy works by creating a fake mirror display, I figured this might be the culprit. When I checked it, I started getting notifications again!
