It is a sure sign of the display not taking DDC commands well (or you might be using the HDMI port on your 2018 or later Mac which garbles DDC I2C communication, some docks can do the same). |

@smattar2020 - It would be beneficial to have some more info - display vendor and name, and also the way you connect the display. Also you could try if you experience the same with MonitorControl as a reference. Thank you! I'll convert this one into a discussion since there will be more issues like this and there needs to be a place to discuss these problems. |

I have tried this with MonitorControl, and the same behavior happens. I'm using this adapter. The screen is a 10.1-inch raspberry pi touch screen (I'm not using the touch feature with my Mac) with speakers and brightness control. |

When I try to use DDC audio or brightness control on a specific monitor, the monitor will turn many colors and then turn off. It will turn on a few seconds later. I have noticed that the audio and brightness on the display has changed though. I am not sure if this is a problem with the monitor, but here is the technical information provided by BetterDisplay:
