I recently purchased a brand-new Samsung Neo G7 43" monitor (Odyssey G70NC), and I’ve noticed an issue where BetterDisplay sometimes recognizes it correctly, but other times it gets identified as a "Generic Display," which results in a poor resolution. I'm looking for advice on what might be causing this and how to fix it.
My Setup:
Monitors:
LG 32UN550-W 32" (connected via DisplayPort)
Samsung U32J59X 32" (connected via HDMI)
Samsung Odyssey G70NC 43" (connected via DisplayPort)
Computers:
Two MacBook Pros (both M1 Max with 64GB RAM)
One laptop with LID closed the other one with LID open.
Connections:
Each MacBook Pro is connected to all three monitors through a KVM switch: Link to KVM.
For both MacBooks:
Two monitors (LG 32UN550-W and Odyssey G70NC) are connected via DisplayPort.
One monitor (Samsung U32J59X) is connected via HDMI.
Sometimes, BetterDisplay correctly identifies the Odyssey G70NC, but other times, it shows up as a "Generic Display." This inconsistency leads to incorrect resolutions and degraded display quality. I haven’t been able to pinpoint why this happens or how to resolve it.
What might be causing BetterDisplay to inconsistently recognize the Odyssey G70NC?
Are there specific settings, hardware tweaks, or software configurations I can try to prevent this issue?
Any advice or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated!
I just made a quick test and while in the right resolution and monitor type switched over to the other laptop and when came back the issue started:
