Currently default guidance has:

If the resource is a still image or moving images, the date the image(s) was captured.
In cases where a painting, engraving, or architectural drawing was photographed, the date the artwork was created.

this guidance seems problematic to me... could make it difficult to accurately interpret date values within a collection?
