adding an update GUI would be helpful to users that want to configure their updates without touching a text file

Possibilities:

  • Integrate with GNOME or KDE system settings (not sure about GNOME but KDE requires special patches, which is a no-go due to the maintenence burden)
  • Yafti
  • Some form of independent libadwaita app written in python

@gerblesh are there any functional requirements for this? is it helpful to just have a button that kicks off the ublue-update service or are there other features that would be useful here?

I'm not totally sure but it would be nice to figure out some way to let the user schedule or disable automatic updates, and maybe fiddle with some values in the config file. This is relatively low priority however
