Did you ever search for a good seed by quickly pressing CTRL+R multiple times? Then you probably experienced the situation that you skipped over the seed that you were searching for. However, there is no way to get it back, so you had to search for the next good seed and hope you would realize that it is a good seed quick enough. If this sounds familiar, the seed history file is your friend.

What is it?

You can use the seed history file to log all seeds displayed by Amidst.

How can I use it?

By default, this feature is disabled. You can activate it by placing a file named history.txt next to the Amidst jar file. You can customize the location of this file using the Command Line Interface Amidst will then use this file as seed history file. You might need to restart Amidst.

Format

Amidst writes a single line per seed. The line has the following format:

recognised version name, timestamp, seed as long, seed text

If the seed does not have a seed text, the following format is used:

recognised version name, timestamp, seed as long

Note, that there is no comma at the end to prevent confusion with the empty seed text "".

Warning

Do not rely on this feature too much. It might be removed in the future if it gets in the way of other features. Also, the format might be changed at any time.
