The European Language Grid translation services developed by Tilde are in two parts - the translation engines themselves, and the adapter to translate their native API to that of the ELG platform. The adapter is freely available under the Apache Licence version 2 (see LICENSE for details), but the translation engines are proprietary software made available under the following conditions:
- The Tilde MT NTEU engine in ELG shall be used and distributed for non-commercial purposes only.
- The Tilde MT NTEU engine is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. In no event shall Tilde or the owners of the translation vis-à-vis the USER be liable for any claim, damages or other liability, whether in an action of contract, tort or otherwise, arising from, out, or in connection with the use of the Tilde MT NTEU engines or the translations.
- Tilde shall not be liable for any damage, loss, demand, liability, claim, cost or expense (including litigation costs and attorney's fees) of whatever kind, caused by or resulting from the use of the Tilde MT NTEU engine docker and the translations.
- In the event of a breach the License can be terminated at any time during its term by Tilde
- Licensee can terminate the License at any time and stop using the Tilde MT NTEU after doing so.
