CI installation fails due to old versioneer / python 3.12? #14

The CI installation failed immediately when installing.

The error message is

it looks like it might be a python3.12 compatability issue (pydata/pandas-datareader#969 ) as I believe Firedrake has just enabled this as default (firedrakeproject/firedrake#3546)...
