It appears to give you the option of download an apk directly or using the F-Droid app. From an example app: "Although APK downloads are available below to give you the choice, you should be aware that by installing that way you will not receive update notifications and it's a less secure way to download. F-Droid looks pretty interesting.
It uses the GNU Affero General Public License version 3 or later (AGPLv3+) which seems fine by me.
