This project isn't maintained anymore. It was a student team project.

I have it working with Play 2.2 now, I just wanted to confirm my understanding on something. You guys used this project as a base: https://github.com/dirkmc/ph, and ported it forward (at least the compiler integration). It seems a focus on that project was the auto-complete functionality, but it seems to me that you guys didn't bring that across. Was there a reason for that?

The auto-complete works only rudimentary, yes.
