[Suggestion] Two zones for one stage #199
Comments
This can already be done via hook zones I believe, at least it worked before it became the olokos fork =) |
Hooks zones currently do not work. Well they do if we restart the map after every hook zone creation. I reckon this would be great also for Linear maps - Checkpoints for maps like surf_gradient with multiple routes or maps which have 2 separate routes that only start and end together, the rest of the map is apart. |
@stunslave what is stopping you adding the checkpoints where the routes don't meet? |
@stunslave at checkpoints its different you can create chechkpoint zone over whole map. |
@KristianP26 do you have a map as an example. I'm curious as I have never seen a map with 2 stage starts |
Ye that doesn't work for a lot of maps. A lot of the routes overlap and when creating a zone which covers both sides, whatever is in the center (The Black Area) also gets the zone. For this you have to carefully select the area's to zone. Example surf_utopia 2 separate sides and the center route. Now if I made a 1 zone that at a certain point which covers both sides, it would also cover the center route, which may be closer to the end or the start of the map... And u cant go through a checkpoint twice! So the center part of the zone would be hit first b4 the sides. This is rather hard to explain! :>
Some maps start / split and only reconnect towards the end. (may or may not have a center route) This will allow only zoning at the start and end of the map. Unless only zoning one side of the map. Can cross zones / cover both sides with one zone. But this is not the best idea since a lot of the maps which have 2 sides are EXTREMELY FAR APART. |
@Kyli3Boi for exaple surf_whiteout and surf_sanguine |
OK thanks but map surf_sanguine cant be fixed not even with stripper because its linear stage map. |
i would just make it linear and not bother with stages lul |
@KristianP26 surf_whiteout has 2 starts (which you can add 2 start zones) but not 2 different stage starts so im not sure what you mean. I would assume that surf_sanguine stage starts are also where the 2 paths join and you will only need 1 stage start? |
surf_whiteout have in one stage with tow starts. Thats what i mean. |
Which stage has two starts other than stage 1? |
Unless im missing something i really dont understand what issue you are having. Stage 1 you put 2 start zones. Then the rest of the stages you use stage zones |
He's talking about S2 to S3 on surf_whiteout when you pick left or right @Kyli3Boi |
Again i dont know what you talking about. As you can see below from S2 to S3 the stage is still the same regardless of which way you go (the teleport goes to the same place) |
The only way i can think you have got this wrong is that your zoning is not correct. Perhaps you are zoning the end of the stage instead of the start of the new stage |
You're using the stripper cfg. |
Ah okay i see now. Why wouldn't you be using the stripper xD |
Yea he was just using the map as an example lol. |
Here's a example surf_crzyfrog_reloaded stage 1 has 2 ends and stage 2 has 2 starts. (Actually I think this map does it for most of the stages), but stage 2 starts are far apart from each other.
The reason people make it staged-linear maps staged and not linear is for the players that are averagely good and cant no fail the map. They need the stages to practice, cause 90% of players don't use or know about practice mode. Also I prefer having stages over linear on staged-linear maps. :> |
u can achieve it via stripper+hookzone, but many old maps dont have "cp trigger" or triggers are not cpzones, and u can still achieve it if map has trigger (via stripper add an triggerzone if u want) at least normal zones dont support two zones for one stage now |
if someone can test with #403 I believe it should work, but function will be very rudimentary without further changes |
There are lot of maps which have two zone start, there is no way to create two zones which will look like one stage.
I tried to set zonetypeid to same as other zone but it bugged start also stage counter and next stage teleport.
