Getting the same issue here.

I was having issues with the beta, so I left the beta to reinstall 3.14.0, and now it's crashing. I rejoined the beta and it's still crashing. This makes me think that it's crashing because I'm not logged in, but of course I can't login if it's crashing!

Investigating..

And to be clear both of you were actively and recently using the previous version with no issue? Did either of you get new devices restored from a cloud backup?

the previous versions work fine for me, the startup is slow but less than 10 seconds maybe it depends on the old smartphone, (if it's possibile to reduce start up time on entry level device it would be great) I didn't perform any reset so no restore from a cloud backup, at the moment to use the app I had to download apk from github (3.12.0)

Please give 3.14.1 a try, which was pushed out yesterday.

i can see only 3.14.0 apk not 3.14.1 on github release, anyway i have uninstall 3.12.0 and install 3.14.0 from github then restarted the smartphone and login in, seem to not crash but is less responsive to open a note and edit takes longer, startup time is very slow compare to 3.12.0 (about 15 seconds), for now i'll use 3.12.0. anyway thanks for support hope you can solve as soon as possibile

Sorry, was uploaded to Google Play only. Available on GitHub now: https://github.com/standardnotes/mobile/releases/tag/3.14.1

3.14.1 from github work same to 3.14.0, less responsive 3.12.0, the google play's version crash at start up like 3.14.0

In my testing, load time from launch to interface load was:

3.12.0: 1.7s
3.14.0: 6s
3.14.1: 2.7s

So, not as great as 3.12, but much better. We hope to get back to 1.7s levels but will take more time investigating.

does'nt crash it's already good, it's better if i could use google play's version to get updates automatically, but for now i prefer 3.12.0 because is more fast

Hi! I was advised to clear app data & cache from support and that worked like a charm. App stopped crashing on startup :)

The crashing was happening on both 3.14.0 and 3.14.1.

Having the same issue after updating from 3.11 to 3.14 on F-Droid. Clearing app data & cache didn't fix. Downgraded back to 3.11.

Same here, long time user installing via F-Droid. This last update crashes immediately on launch. Not clearing app data as that would wipe my local notes.

Here is crash log: https://bin.kv2.dev/~624a7a72410e7c32e669b643

Edit: Seems already fixed on 3.14.1

Had the same issue using F-Droid with 3.14.0 on LineageOS 18.1 (25/3/22). Don't know the version of standard notes that was installed before the upgrade. After the upgrade, 3.14.0 would crash every time it started. I cleared the app cache and cleared the app storage but neither stopped the crashing. I installed 3.14.1 apk from the repo's release page and it worked. Thank you!

Used 3.14.0 on my newly built Pixel 3a with CalyxOS 3.3.0 (Android 12, build SP2A.220305.012.22303004), also crashed upon start up, nothing to app/cache clear since it was new. Reverted to 3.12.0 and it worked. F-Droid didn't have 3.14.1 but got the APK, works but startup is laggy. Otherwise 3.14.1 is fine on my Stock Pixel 6 from Google Play.

update from 3.11.0 to 3.14.0 from f-droid on android 11 crashes immediately. downgrading didn't work so i reinstalled 3.11.0. tried installing 3.14.0 once more to double check and it still crashed on launch.

The crash should be resolved with version 3.14.1, however the F-Droid version might be lagging behind. Feel free to sideload the .apk from here.

i had forgotten about the fdroid lag. thanks for the link.

If you are on F-Droid version you cannot upgrade via that link. Fails to install. You would have to wipe data and lose local notes

We do recommend having regular backups as a rule-of-thumb.

At this point u guys should really consider setting up ur own custom repo on fdroid just like newpipe to get updates faster to your users.

I got the update from the Fdroid store to 1.14.1 and it works fine now. Looks like the issue can be closed.

Update: same as above

I was able to upgrade via the new F-Droid release to 3.14.1 and have access to all my local notes.
Will be migrating my data and remove the F-Droid version
