What steps will reproduce the problem?

I followed the steps to connect spyder to a wsl kernel:

but spyder crashes at the last step, when connecting IPython console to remotemachine.json

Hey @dalvinico, thanks for reporting. I have one quick question for you: what version of spyder-kernels did you install in your WSL machine?

I say because it seems you installed spyder-kernels 3.0, which is incompatible with Spyder 5.5.1 (the version you have). But that's easy to fix.

You need to install Spyder-kernels 2.5 in your conda env. You can do that by running

conda install spyder-kernels=2.5
