How to release:
Add this to ~/.m2/settings.xml
Needed:
<settings>

Ensure that jdk8 is the locally available jdk. Check with:
$ java -version
openjdk version "1.8.0_332"
Something like sdkman can be used to simplify switching:
$ sdk use java <the specific version>
Then prepare the release version. Keep the snapshot suffix - the release
process will remove it.
If the change breaks compatibility, bump the major version, rename all packages,
rename artifact id.
If the change introduces a new feature, bump the minor version.
If the change fixes a bug, the version should already be correct.
$ mvn versions:set -DnewVersion=$NEW_VERSION
$ mvn release:clean release:prepare release:perform
