During my early steps as software developer I was introduced to open software such as GNU/Linux. Since then I've been consistently amazed how it seems to be the easiest to use tool for tinkerers like us. Not to mention the clarity of goals and singular focus on achieving the objective in the most efficient manner. These all benefits stem from the fact that there are no other interests in the equation, other than the user's and the developer's. More often than not they align pretty well and the two roles overlap.

With all of this in mind I am aiming to produce something of value to the wide world. To emulate the great projects I use day-to-day. Projects such as GIMP, Audible, Blender, GNOME. And the list certainly does not stop there, they are too many to enumerate. Other than occasionally contributing to projects I use my main focus at the moment is Euterpe. I want it to become the simplest and the same time the best self-hosted music streaming solution out there.

I've been using it for the last 8 years and it is constantly improving. The rate of improvement could be way better, though. Any sponsorship will go along the way of making Euterpe better and better ♥. The list of my current priorities includes but is not limited to

  • Providing more builds for more operating systems and CPU architectures. Along with better installation methods such as packages
  • Improving the mobile clients for Euterpe
  • Publishing the iOS and Android apps to the respective stores and making them free
  • Creating a desktop client for all major operating systems
  • Adding new features to the Euterpe server, of course
  • Providing a community space for users

Of course, all of this would not stop me from continuously improving other open source software I use. Count on me submitting bug reports as best as I could too.

With $20 every month I will be able to build and publish the iOS and Android apps to the respective stores. Unfortunately publishing is not free and my only option for recouping the cost at this time is asking money for the apps which I would ideally want to avoid. Expect further goals once this is reached 😆
