Problems installing the new SOFA v23.12

Hello,

I downloaded the new SOFA v23.12 (SOFA_v23.12.00_Linux.run) from:
"https://github.com/sofa-framework/sofa/releases"

And I installed all the necessary dependencies ("libopengl0" and "Python 3.10 + Numpy + Scipy + pybind11" ). When I install it and I enter on the generated folder there is not a build and a src file as it was said here:
"https://www.sofa-framework.org/community/doc/getting-started/build/linux/"

• Is it only the build folder and I have to install also the "Source code (zip)"?
• How can I configure and change the CMake variables from this folder?
• Although when I open the executable application of "~/SOFA_v23.12.00/bin", version v23.12 opens, when I try to open my Python file with "runSofa" command the old version is opened. How can I change this? I do not want to delete the old version, but I want to open v23.12 when I write "runSofa" command.

When downloading the binary versions of SOFA (either on the download page of SOFA or on the release page of GitHub), you should then follow the simple instructions available on the Binary Instructions docpage.

Yes, I did it. The problem was solved after restarting my computer.

I have problems with Ros2 plugin. How can I configure and change the CMake? Is it a way to add the Ros2 plugin from the graphic mode? I did not generate any Makefile with CMake because I installed it directly from the installer file.

Hi @BGBBGB1998

With the binary version, you can not change the SOFA configuration. However, you can compile additional plugins using the binaries. These plugins have to be compiled/built "out-of-tree", i.e. aside SOFA.
