How to open SOFA software after downloading it on MacOS?

I downloaded the SOFA binaries (v23.06.00) for MacOS. How to open SOFA now? Under bin folder, I am double clicking on runSOFA, it is asking for software under which it will be opened. How to proceed after SOFA binary has been downloaded?

Thanks for your question.

MacOS does not represent the large majority of the SOFA users but it is not negligible (about 12%).
As you might know, MacOS is now requiring distributed software to be "signed" meaning following a MacOS-supervised validation. We will work on this topic early 2024 to allow easy distribution on MacOS too. Note that conda packages of SOFA are also in preparation for an easier access!

Old versions of SOFA (like SOFA binaries v23.06.00) for MacOS can be downloaded but they remain cumbersome to use : each dynamic library should be manually approved.

Hi Hugo,

I did most of the steps of the tutorial of compilation on Mac, but I had errors occur when I ran make in the build file. The errors are like this:
ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture arm64
clang: error: linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation)
make[2]: *** [lib/libQGLViewer.dylib] Error 1
make[1]: *** [Sofa/GUI/Qt/libQGLViewer/QGLViewer/CMakeFiles/QGLViewer.dir/all] Error 2
make[1]: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....
[ 11%] Built target Sofa.Geometry
[ 11%] Linking CXX shared library ../../../../../lib/libgtest.dylib
[ 11%] Built target gtest
make: *** [all] Error 2
I am using an M2 chip MacBook Air, and the system is macOS 14.2 (23C64). I set the CMAKE_OSX_ARCHITECTURES to “arm64” when I try to configure the source file. Do you have ideas why I had this kind of errors?

It was indeed painful to approve each library manually on Mac OS, but looks like they let you recursively "approve" all libraries inside the SOFA installation directory :)
