Tetrahedron formulation

I've heard from a student that SOFA employs plain-vanilla isoparametric tetrahedra for soft-tissue simulation. Is that correct?

Thank you very much for your question.
Indeed SOFA employs isoparametric linear tetrahedra for mechanical simulations. Hexa are also available in the SOFA core.
In the plugin Caribou, higher order elements and hyperelastic materials are available.

Thanks for the confirmation.

It appears that the software framework is very powerful. So far so good.

Unfortunately, it is well-known that isop 4-node tets have very poor accuracy, which
becomes disastrous for soft tissues (limited compressibility -- locking).
Their only redeeming quality is that they are cheap.

Isop 8-node hex is not much better.

If I may make a suggestion: consider alternatives. A good software framework is
wasted when it implements poor technologies.
