Issues with Geomagic touch #3809

Hi there,
I installed the binary version of SOFA 22.12 and I already installed the plugin of Geomagic Touch but seems that the connection between my laptop and the robot doesn't work since I'm not able to see the movements in the scene.
Has anyone had this problem before? Were you able to solve it?

Hi,

can you launch the first scene: Geomagic-Demo.scn from the plugin. You should be able to see a visual representation of the Geomagic Touch.
Then after animating, you should be able to see the tool moving as you move the real one.
Also if you click on the buttons of the device, the virtual pen should change its color.

Could you confirm if this one is working or not?
If not, could you copy past the output of the console here as well as a picture of runSofa with the scen graph visible.

Hi @AngelicaScamarcia

So you successfully compiled the sources of the Geomagic plugin with the binary release of SOFA v22.12.
And, after calibrating the device, you are un-able to use and see the Geomagic virtual object moving in SOFA while it moves into the calibrating tool?
The following scene is not working: Geomagic/scenes/Geomagic-FEMLiver.scn

What are the values of the data : drawDevice, positionDevice in the GeomagicDriver ?
Could you try to change the initDevice function at line 309 in the GeomagicDriver.cpp like:

    if (catchHDError())
    {
        sofa::core::objectmodel::BaseObject::d_componentState.setValue(sofa::core::objectmodel::ComponentState::Invalid);
        msg_error() << "Error catched from HD while starting scheduler";
        return;
    }

Same at line 325 in the GeomagicDriver.cpp like:

    if (catchHDError())
    {
        sofa::core::objectmodel::BaseObject::d_componentState.setValue(sofa::core::objectmodel::ComponentState::Invalid);
        msg_error() << "Error catched from HD while adding tasks in the scheduler";
        return;
    }

Recompile the plugin and let us know if this helps?

Could you make sure that the previous Geomagic.dll in the bin of the binary is well deleted to make sure SOFA is not loading both..

From SOFA I have this data:

I changed the GeomagicDriver.cpp, adding the line that you mentioned above, and I checked the Geomagic.dll but still not working!

My changes in the cpp were (unfortunately) not made to solve the problem but instead to raise some error messages.
Have you noticed anything in the command window?

Also, could you confirm that the device move accordingly inside the application "Touch Smart Setup"?
If yes maybe try to re-save the calibration.

By the way, now I have this error when i try to run the GeomagicDriver.cpp

Just a short question why this error:

A scene should not include a component .cpp .. Moreover the scene does not have a AnimationLoop which is strange.

I just tried again and I have the same situation. I mean, I modified the code, recompiled it and run it and still doesn't move and I don't have any message about m_hHD

So sorry @AngelicaScamarcia did you try to use the SOFA sources and compile the Geomagic plugin (by activating it in the CMake configuration) ?

I am facing the same issues as Angelica. I have the binary version of SOFA, installed on Windows 10. I am using TouchX, and I have installed the newest driver because otherwise, the device wouldn't connect correctly to the laptop. The device is fully working in the testing environments coming from the 3D Systems website.
After calibrating and testing, I ran SOFA, and I opened a scene taken from the plugin examples. The scene opens correctly, without errors, and imports Geomagic correctly, but there is no interaction whatsoever with the scene. No device appears, and there are no movements.
I read the conversation above, and I don't understand if the compiling process you advised for Angelica is the same I should follow since I have the binary version of SOFA, or this plugin is not designed to work on the binary version and I should start downloading the source one.
