LG Air Conditioner Model
Please provide your A/C model here. If the unit successfully paired to Homekit, please also include the "Model" listed in the accessory's settings.
Model: WIN_056905_WW (LG LA100EC)

Describe the bug
A clear and concise description of what the bug is.
With the new update of homepodOS/ios 15.4 there have been a few bugs I have encountered.

  • Siri now constantly asks "to which value" when trying to change modes from Auto, Heat, Cool, as well as when turning On or Off.
  • Siri cannot change the temperature now because siri cannot detect the temperature control but this works when I manually use the home app. Siri responds with your A/C does not support temperature control when previously before the os updates this command works.
  • Before the update siri can detect the room temperature because the A/C supports it but after the update siri does not anymore so automations now fail.

Symptom check

  • Does your unit appear in the Home app?
    Yes
  • Is the current on/off state, temperature, and mode being reported?
    Yes
  • Does your unit respond to the controls?
    Yes

Same issue here with an LG JW-Q18WUZA.THLG1 (1.5 Ton Window AC)

Had the same issue here. Downgrading to homebridge-lg-thinq-ac v2.2.0 resolve the issue.
For more, I don't think it's a iOS issue. In HomebridgeUI > Accessories, I wasn't able to change the temp. No particular logs.
2,2,0 works as expected now.

It is definitely a problem even under 2.2.0 and a quick web search shows that this is an ios problem, not a problem with this homebridge plugin - it has been reported for numerous devices (I saw it for ACs and blinds). Some phrasings will not even get you the "to which value" - I managed to get there by saying "change heating" rather than "change heatpump" (loose translation - this was in French). If you get to the "to which value" prompt, try changing the phrasing of your answer. In my case, there is a specific variation around "23 degrees" or "23 degrees celcius" or "23 Celcius" that does work.

Do you have any other Homebridge A/C plugins by chance?

This plugin is built on the Homebridge platform, which provides all of the HomeKit / Siri connections. If the started with the iOS 15.4 update, this is likely either an iOS 15.4 or Homebridge platform bug that will need to be solved upstream, unfortunately

@astroleptirobot you're right (nice nickname btw, Frenchy here) some phrasing issues with iOS 15.
And the downgrade does not resolve.
But I had issue with the latest version to control the AC in the Home App and homebridge which is now resolved.
About the phrasing, I hope the next beta(s) will correct the use case.

In 15.4 Siri also has phrasing issues with my August smart lock btw, which I use directly through Homekit (no homebridge involved). @IMNotMax thanks, I've had it forever, used to be my Quake and UT handle. :)

@astroleptirobot do you use Siri in French or English ? For the moment I did not notice any other issue but the temperature of the AC in French.

In French - but the other reports I've seen (e.g. with blinds and AC units) are happening in English.

So for me this is now resolved as of the 15.5 update to ios.

Yes for me too

Agree. Same here HomePods mini 15.5 works in French to adjust temperature of the AC.
